USAF ACADEMY, Colo. -- After nearly a month off from competition, the Air Force boxing team returned to the Upper Boxing Room of the Cadet Gym on Jan. 13, for another exciting round of Friday Night Fights. There were 14 bouts contested and all but one went until the final bell.

The evening began with three contests in the 139-pound weight class. Jimmy Baker earned a split decision over Nicholas Goc, while Harvey White took care of Juan Carlos-Pino after the referee stopped the contest in the third round. J.J. Homan closed out the 139-pound weight class with a unanimous decision over Ezekiel Ignaco.

Homan's undisputed victory sparked a streak of eight straight unanimous decisions. Evin Negron took a win from Bruce Jamison in a 175-pound bout, while Cliff Moore decisioned Daryn Nelson at 162 pounds.

Rudy Bowen was named the Academy's Boxer of the Week after defeating Jahmil Edwards in a 155-pound contest. Just a freshman, Bowen displayed an outstanding ring generalship and landed several solid combinations during the match.

Trevor Cook defeated Ruben Ihuit in a 168-pound contest, while Mark Ruther earned the judges' decision in a 177-pound match with Michael Bosack and Oscar Casillas took a decision from Colin LaFavor at 187 pounds. In the night's heavier weight classes, Ronald Occenad picked up a decision from John Quinn at 215 pounds, while Eric Garcia claimed the 200-pound title over Joshua Ramirez.

Lonnie Ash earned a split decision in the 142-pound contest with Travis Miller, while Ryan Price unanimously downed Sean May at 152 pounds. Jon Andresen closed out the night with a split decision victory at 185 pounds over Ryan Cwynar.

The Falcons host the last Friday Night Fights of the year on Jan. 20, at 4:30 p.m., in the Upper Boxing Room of the Cadet Gym. Following two road trips to face competitors from the National Collegiate Boxing Association (NCBA), Air Force returns to the Academy for the start of the Wing Open Tournament on Feb. 9.
