USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - The Air Force boxing team closed out the fall semester with a strong round of Friday Night Fights on Dec. 2 in the Cadet Gym Boxing Room. The card featured seven hard-fought bouts, all of which went to the judge's decision. Senior Mike McLain claimed his second straight Boxer of the Week award.

McLain, taking on sophomore Denis Vorobyov in a 179-pound contest, impressed the coaches with his form, controlling the bout from start to finish.

Junior Glenn Miltenberg avenged an earlier loss to Nolan Hebein, as he earned a victory over the sophomore at 158 pounds. Miltenberg used strong combination punching to win the decision. By applying six minutes of pressure and good counter-punching, senior Tyrus Korecki took a decision from junior Mike Leland at 165 pounds.

Roy Taylor earned a 136-pound decision over Gerald Lara, while Connor Crawford earned the judges' vote in his 159-pound bout with Alex Kim. At 196 pounds, Cameron Vickroy decisioned Joey Martin.

In the final match of the night, heavyweight newcomers Kebin Umodu and Joseph Okai brought the crowd to their feet. The two boxers, both competing in their first career contest, traded hard shots through all three rounds, before Umodu won the close decision.

Air Force returns to action in 2012, following the Academy's holiday break. The Falcons will host another round of Friday Night Fights in the Cadet Gym Boxing Room on Jan. 13.
