NEW YORK, N.Y. - The Air Force boxing team posted a perfect 3-0 record at the New York Athletic Club's annual NCBA Invitational on Monday, Nov. 22, in New York, N.Y. Seniors Matt DeMars and Mike Chambers, as well as junior Mike McLain, all earned unanimous decisions in their respective weight classes at the sold-out event. McLain earned the team's Boxer of the Week award.

DeMars opened the Falcons' night with a 122-pound decision over Navy's Ceon Harris. Using great combinations and footwork, DeMars was able to outpoint his opponent for the unanimous decision.

Chambers returned to the ring after fracturing his nose in the season opener against Navy to take a unanimous heavyweight decision from Maryland's Tom Bush. Using an aggressive attack, Chambers was able to keep Bush against the ropes.

In Air Force's third bout, McLain took a 185-pound decision from Juan Gonzales of UCLA. With good jabs and fakes, McLain kept his shifty opponent guessing and secured the judges' unanimous vote with a left-handed hook to Gonzales' head.

The Falcons close out the fall semester on Dec. 3, when they host another round of Friday Night Fights. Action begins at 4:30 p.m., in the Cadet Gym Boxing Room.
