USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Highlighted by three victories, the Air Force boxing team wrapped up an impressive 3-1 night of action at the annual National Collegiate Boxing Association (NCBA) Invitational this evening (Nov. 23) at the NYC Athletic Club in New York City. Senior Cory Tintzman was named the Academy's Boxer of the Week for his victory in the heavyweight division.

Junior Matthew DeMars was the first Falcon to step into the ring this evening. Showcasing the skill that gave him a national title, DeMars took a 119-pound decision from Army's Terry Neil. Senior Bailey Ball earned a come-from-behind victory over Lockhaven's Jaytran Charles at 141 pounds. Ball connected on several strong body shots and owned the third round to claim the decision.

Sophomore Nick Cataldo lost a close 175-pound decision to Army's Will Meyers, the runner up at last year's national championships while competing at 165 pounds. Tintzman righted the Falcons' ship in the night's final bout, as he outhustled Cal's Art Avetisyan in the heavyweight contest. En route to his Boxer of the Week honors, the team captain used quick movements and great body shots, while countering the jabs of his taller opponent.

Air Force closes out the fall semester with another round of Friday Night Fights on Dec. 4 in the Cadet Gym Upper Boxing Room.
