NEW YORK, N.Y. – Seniors Den Tati-Mackaya and Osama Farqaleet captured individual bout titles, as the Air Force boxing team posted a 2-1 record at the annual Arthur Mercante National Collegiate Boxing Invitational on Monday, Nov. 20, at the New York Athletic Club.
Following a victory over the defending National Collegiate Boxing Association (NCBA) champion, Tati-Mackaya was named the Academy’s Boxer of the Week. The senior earned the victory by taking a decision from Army West Point’s Christian Bingham in a 200-pound contest.
Forcing the referee to stop the bout in the third round, Farqaleet opened the night with a 127-pound victory over Alex Perron of UCONN. Fellow senior Naji Bseiso also competed at the annual NYAC Showcase on Monday night, dropping a 5-4 split decision to Navy’s Alex Olajide in a 165-pound bout.
The Falcons return to action on Jan. 19, when they host Friday Night Fights in the Cadet Gym.
