USAF ACADEMY, Colo. – Seven members of the Air Force boxing team earned victories during the season’s second round of Friday Night Fights on Nov. 18. Freshman Lois Taylor was named the Academy’s Boxer of the Week, marking the first time this season that a member of the women’s squad has earned the team’s weekly award.
Taylor was named Boxer of the Week after claiming a 125-pound victory over senior Natasha Rodriguez in the only women’s bout of the night.
On the men’s side, senior Dillon Willis decisioned freshman Just Couty in a 139-pound bout, while sophomore Ife Onigbanjo earned a victory in his 147-pound contest with junior Josh Turner. Freshman Alexander Balassi defeated junior Xavier Cardinal in a battle of squadmates (CS-25), while sophomore William Ragland (159 pounds, sophomore Jane Stamenov), junior Levi Knox (175 pounds, junior Elijah Calloway) and senior Joe Asenuga (185 pounds, sophomore Cenada Clifton-Smith) also earned victories.
Air Force returns to action on Monday, Nov. 20, when select boxers travel to New York City for the Arthur Mercante Invitational at the New York Athletic Club. Action is slated to begin at 8:00 p.m. (ET).
