Falcons Return Home with Friday Night Fights
USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - The Air Force boxing team returned to the Academy for another round of Friday Night Fights on Nov. 15, competing in eight bouts ranging from 127 to 178 pounds. During a night that featured decisions in every contest, Nick Holguin was named the Academy's Boxer of the Week.
Holguin, boxing in the second contest of the night, earned a decision over Darnell Jones in a 170-pound contest. Three other bouts were contested in the upper weight classes. Alejandro Rodriguez won his 160-pound contest with Samuel Sheikh, while Chris Rauch-Gish earned a decision over Kaleb Rockwell at 167 pounds. In the heaviest of the eight contests, Collin Fleck defeated Max Zendali at 178 pounds.
At the other end of the spectrum, Adam Sumait earned a victory in the lightest weight class of the night, taking a decision from Anthony Ermitano at 127 pounds. Peter Coote decisioned Khoa Huyhn at 138 pounds, while Jamal Johnson earned a victory over Derek Kinamon at 140 pounds and Matt Medara defeated Hayder Mahdi in the 147-pound bout.
The Falcons return to action on Monday, Nov. 25, when select boxers travel to New York, N.Y., for the annual NCBA Showcase.
