Zac Spranger Collects Win at Armed Forces Invitational

    ARLINGTON, Va. - Senior Zac Spranger collected a heavyweight victory, as the Air Force boxing team wrapped up competition this afternoon at the Veterans Day Army Forces Invitational in Arlington, Va. The Falcons split their bouts with Navy (1-1), while dropping both matches with Army (0-2).

    Spranger, who earned the Academy's Boxer of the Week award for his win, claimed the judges' unanimous decision over Navy's Keon Briscoe in the final bout of the afternoon.

    Senior Nolan Hebein lost a hard-fought decision to Navy's Kellen Lewis in the 156-pound bout, while classmate Sean Cork and junior Roy Taylor dropped tough decisions to Army boxers. Cork lost a unanimous 147-pound decision to Juan Archuleta, while Taylor dropped a narrow, split decision to Alan Alvarado in the 132-pound contest (28-29, 28-29, 29-28).

    Air Force returns to action this Saturday (Nov. 16), when it travels to Phoenix, Ariz., for an NCBA event.
