USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - The Air Force boxing team earned a hard-hitting 6-4 victory over Army in the annual dual meet between the two programs on Friday, Nov. 2, in the Academy's Upper Boxing Room. The Falcons, who opened the night with a pair of victories in front of the packed house, took the final three matches to secure the team decision. All 10 of the bouts were sent to the judges for decision.

Air Force claimed the first bout of the night, as junior Dave Simon defeated Chad Moran in a 135-pound decision. Classmate Austin Almand added to the victory column, as he decisioned Dan Squiera at 158 pounds.

Army got on the board as Anthony Terrel earned a victory over junior Harvey White in a 138-pound contest. Sophomore Seth Gunn picked up another win for the Falcons, as he received a unanimous decision from Dan Hogan at 144 pounds.

Army won the next three bouts to take a 4-3 advantage on the night.  Matt Longo defeated sophomore Matt McPhail at 125 pounds, while Steve Henao picked up a split decision over senior Brian Navin at 152 pounds and Alonzo McNeal earned the judges' mark over junior Elon Brumfield at 185 pounds.

Junior Andrew Catoire got the Falcons back on track, as he downed A.J. Pisano in the first of two 185-pound bouts. Senior Chris Johnson claimed the other bout, as he earned a victory over Nate Taylor.

Sophomore Cory Tintzman, who stepped into the lineup after practice last night due when illness sidelined team captain John Quinn, was the final Air Force competitor, competing in a heavyweight contest with Jody Chapman. In his first collegiate match, Tintzman showed poise and power to take the match and solidify the Falcons' victory.

The Falcons return to action on Monday, Nov.  19, when they travel to New York, N.Y., for their first National Collegiate Boxing Association bout of the season.
