DETROIT, Mich. – Senior Neptaly Trujillo claimed a 175-pound victory on Friday, Oct. 27, as the Air Force boxing team wrapped up competition against service academy rivals Navy and Army West Point at the annual Chuck Davey Invitational in Detroit.
Trujillo, who earned a unanimous decision over Navy’s Marshall Adair, was the Falcons’ lone champion at the Detroit Athletic Club.
Sophomores Ife Onigbanjo and Levi Rate both lost decisions in the 147-pound weight division, as the pair fell to Navy’s Bee Nguyen and Toshie Oue, respectively. Junior Isaiah Honable dropped a 165-pound decision to Army West Point’s Will Prada, while senior Naji Bseiso fell in his 168-pound bout with the Black Knights’ Anders Freiberg. Senior Den Tati-Mackaya rounded out the Falcons’ lineup, as he lost a decision to Army West Point’s Egbezien Obiomon in the 195-pound bout.
Air Force returns to action this Friday (Nov. 3), when it hosts Army West Point in a rematch.
