ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Air Force boxing team opened the season with a strong 7-1, road victory over Navy on Friday, Oct. 6, at McDonough Hall on the campus of the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis. Junior Josh Turner earned the program’s first Boxer of the Week of the 2017-18 campaign, as the Falcons defeated the Midshipmen during the annual dual meet battle.
Turner defeated Rick Onitveros in the 156-pound weight class.
Senior Osama Farqaleet kicked off the Falcons’ seven-straight victories, as he defeated Tanner Strawbridge in the 132-pound contest. Devon Smith won his 165-pound contest with John Mackling, while senior Naji Bseiso (versus Alex Olajide) and junior Levi Knox (versus Marshall Adair) won the two 175-pound contests. Senior Joe Asenuga defeated Andrew Bilden in the 185-pound bout, while sophomore Nick Pingel downed Brady Lorenz in the 195-pound contest.
Sophomore RJ Leon also competed at Navy this evening, dropping a 125-pound contest to Jake Cleary
Air Force returns to action on Oct .13, when it hosts the first Friday Night Fights of the academic year.
