Air Force Collects Three Wins in Season Opener at Navy

    ANNAPOLIS, Md. - With three victories, the Air Force boxing team opened the 2011-12 season in a service academy showdown with Navy on Friday, Sept. 30, in Annapolis, Md. The Falcons posted a 3-8 record against the Mids. Sophomore Nolan Hebein, who claimed a 156-poind victory, was named the Academy's Boxer of the Week.

    Junior Andrew Pineda (112 lbs.) and senior Casey Habluetzel (165 lbs.) also claimed victories for the Falcons in Annapolis.

    Eight other Falcons competed at Navy, including sophomore Justin Zahn (119 lbs.), junior Will Petersen (132 lbs.), sophomore Andrew Munoz (139 lbs.), senior Craig Spranger (146 lbs.), senior Tyrus Korecki (156 lbs.), sophomore Tyler Ludwig (165 lbs.), junior Chris Nelson (175 lbs.) and sophomore Zac Spranger (195 lbs.).

    Air Force opens the home season on Oct 7, when it hosts the first of seven Friday Night Fights at the Academy's Cadet Gym. Action begins in the boxing room at 4:30 p.m.
