LAWRENCEBURG, Ind. – The senior members of the Air Force boxing team combined for four victories during the semifinal round of action at the National Collegiate Boxing Association (NCBA) Championships this evening (April 7) in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. Overall, the Falcons’ varsity lineup posted a 4-5 record (4-4 men, 0-1 women) during the second night of action at the Lawrenceburg Events Center.

Senior Adam Sumait, who had a bye during last night’s quarterfinal round, made the most of his opening bout, earning a unanimous 119-pound decision over Washington’s Jomell Cortes. Sumait was one of four Air Force boxers to sweep the judges’ votes, as classmates Pedro Barrientes (147-pound win over Penn State’s Marquise Craig), Landon Tomcho (139-pound win over Miami’s Ryan Adelson) and Johnny Wells (156-pound win over Trinity’s Joseph Orosco) all earned 3-0 decisions in their respective bouts.

Four additional members of the men’s boxing team competed in tonight’s semifinal round and finished with Bronze Medal status. Junior Naji Bseiso dropped a 2-1 decision to Shippensburg’s Brett Pastore in the 165-pound semifinal, while classmates Osama Farqaleet and Den Tati-Mackaya suffered 3-0 losses in the 125-pound (Army West Point’s Carlan Ivey) and 195-pound (Nevada’s Garrett Felling) bouts, respectively. Senior Kellen Cleveland lost his heavyweight contest with Navy’s Reggie Miles by walkover.

On the women’s side, senior Heather Parcasio dropped a 125-pound decision to two-time defending champion Jacqueline Ines (Washington) and concluded her NCBA run with the third top-three finish of her career.

Two members of the club team also competed today and split their card with a 1-1 mark. Freshman Adrienne Yoder earned a unanimous decision over Coast Guard’s Kiana Kekoa in her NCBA debut at 139 pounds, while junior Victoria Rodriguez suffered a 156-pound loss to Army West Point’s Eba Obiomon.
