Air Force Wraps Up Second Day of Action at Regional Championships

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - The Air Force boxing team concluded the second day of competition at the National Collegiate Boxing Association (NCBA) West Regional Championships on Friday, March 19, in San Francisco, Calif. During six semifinal bouts, the Falcons picked up three victorious decisions and a pair of referee-stopped contests.
Senior Bailey Ball opened the night with a decision over San Francisco's Alfred Abello in the 139-pound bout. Air Force suffered its only loss of the night, as Nevada's Ryan Kotey, a two-time national champion, defeated junior Michael Dunn in the 147-pound weight division.
The Falcons got back on track, as junior Joe Silvio decisioned Nevada's Jacob Muson-Decker at 156 pounds. Sophomore Mike McLain also picked up a decision in the 175-pound weight class, when he earned the judges' votes over Nevada's Jason Warren.
Juniors Dalton Hall and Mike Chambers didn't have to go to the final bell to advance. Hall's 165-pound bout with Nevada's Francisco Torres was stopped in the third round, while Chambers' heavyweight contest with Anthony Crespo of Nevada was ended in the second round. In addition, sophomore Logan Brandt advanced to the championship round when his semifinal opponent forfeited.
Air Force concludes regional action tomorrow evening (March 20) in San Francisco.
