Lavelle Scottie scored 14 points and grabbed five rebounds in 17 minutes to lead Air Force past Colorado Christian, 97-74, Tuesday night in a men’s basketball exhibition game at Clune Arena. Ryan Manning added 10 points and five rebounds while Trevor Lyons and Pervis Louder each added nine points and four rebounds.
Air Force opened the game with a 13-0 run over the first 6:30 of the game while holding CCU to 0-9 shooting and forcing five turnovers. Scottie paced the Falcons with six points and four rebounds while Lyons added two steals and forced a charge call. Air Force went on to lead 43-24 at the half.
The Falcons led by as many as 29 points in the second half and never let the lead slip below 21 points. Air Force shot 52.1 percent from the field, including a 36.0 mark from 3-point territory. The Falcons out-rebounded CCU, 44-33, and had 19 assists and just nine turnovers while forcing 16.
CCU was led by Jeremiah Hanson, who scored a game-high 22 points. Terry McFadden added 16 points and seven rebounds while Justin Engesser and Isaiah Hanson each chipped in with 13 points. CCU shot 39.7 percent from the field and 42.4 percent from 3-point territory.
Air Force opens the season on Sunday, Nov. 12, by hosting Texas State at 2 p.m. in Clune Arena. The game beings the Men Against Breast Cancer Showcase.
