The Air Force men's basketball team opens the 2012-13 season this Sunday, Nov. 4 with an exhibition game against Colorado Christian University beginning at 2 p.m. in Clune Arena. The game is open to the public and admission is free.

The Falcons will begin their first full season under head coach Dave Pilipovich, who took over the program late last season after spending five seasons as an assistant coach at Air Force. Pilipovich enters the '12-13 campaign with a 2-6 record, with one of his victories coming against 13th-ranked San Diego State, the first-ever win against a top 20 team in program history.

In his nearly five full seasons as an assistant coach, Pilipovich helped the Falcons earn their first trip to the postseason since 2007 with an appearance in the CollegeInsider.com Tournament following the 2010 campaign and snap a 16-game losing streak in conference tournament play in 2009.

In Pilipovich's first season at Air Force (2007-08), the Falcons finished fifth in the Mountain West Conference after being picked eighth in the preseason media and coaches poll, the greatest margin between predicted and actual finish in the league that season. He also helped Tim Anderson earn the conference's Defensive Player of the Year award that campaign.

Senior captains Michael Lyons and Todd Fletcher lead the way on the court this season. Lyons earned second-team all-Mountain West honors last year after leading the team and finishing third in the conference in scoring at 15.5 points per game. He is just three points shy of becoming the 23rd player in program history to score 1,000 career points. Fletcher, meanwhile, ranks tenth on the school's career assist list with 249 and ranked fifth in the league in steals at 1.61 per game last season.

Air Force begins the 2012-13 regular season at the second annual All-Military Classic in Charleston, S.C., on Saturday, Nov. 10. The Falcons will face service-academy rival Army in the first round, while Citadel and VMI will play in the other first-round game.
