Air Force Drops Exhibition Game to Brock University, 66-63
Oct. 31, 2007
Rohan Steen's three-pointer with one-tenth of a second remaining lifted the Brock University (Canada) men's basketball team to a 66-63 victory over Air Force Wednesday night in an exhibition game at Clune Arena.
Steen took a pass from Brad Rootes in the left corner after Rootes drove the lane but was forced to pass by the Falcon defense. Steen nailed the three-pointer, Brock's 17th of the game, and Air Force could not get a shot off after taking a time out. The Badgers shot 54.8 percent from three-point range (17-31).
The Falcons held a 61-56 lead with five minutes left after a three-pointer by Tim Anderson, who led Air Force with 25 points and made six of seven shots from long range. Rootes cut the lead to three with a pair of free throws and the Badgers tied the game at 61-all on a three-pointer by Scott Murray at the 2:41 mark.
Anderson made a layup with two minutes left, then Mike Kemp, who led the Badgers with 25 points, hit two free throws with 1:43 left to tie the game. Each team had a couple of shots down the stretch, including a short jumper by Anderson that rimmed out and set up Brock's final possession.
The Falcons open the 2007-08 regular season on Friday, Nov. 9 in the Air Force Classic at Clune Arena. Air Force plays Dartmouth in the first round, beginning at 8 p.m., preceded by Northern Colorado and VMI playing at 5:30 p.m.
