Aug 29, 2013
Juniors DeLovell Earls and Kamryn Williams have been selected by their teammates to serve as the Air Force men’s basketball captains for the 2013-14 season. Earls and Williams, both from Colorado Springs, are the first underclassmen to serve as captains since Dylan Pope in 1998-99 and the only players on the ’13-14 roster that have started a game for the Falcons.
“We are excited to have DeLovell and Kamryn lead our program this season,” said head coach Dave Pilipovich. “They have represented the Air Force Academy and the basketball program in a way that has gained them tremendous respect from their teammates as well as the coaching staff.”
Earls appeared in all 32 games and started the final 22 last season. He averaged 3.9 points per game and scored a career-high 12 points against UNLV and Wyoming. Earls, a product of The Colorado Springs School, pulled down a career-best nine rebounds at Nevada and averaged 3.1 boards per contest last year.
Williams appeared in 30 games off the bench and averaged 3.3 points and 2.4 rebounds per game as a sophomore. He posted a career-high 25 points and tied his career high with 10 rebounds at home against Wyoming for the second double-double of his career. His first double-double came as a freshman against Texas-Pan American, recording 11 points and 10 rebounds. The Sierra High School product started 14 games his freshman campaign.
Air Force opens the 2013-14 season on Friday, Nov. 8 against service-academy rival Army in the first round of the All-Military Classic, hosted by VMI. The game will be televised nationally by ESPNU at 1 p.m. (ET).
