Falcons Prepare for Canadian Trip
Aug. 17, 2007
The Air Force Academy men's basketball team will get an early jump on the 2007-08 season with the first of 10 practice days on Saturday, August 18 as the Falcons prepare for a five-game excursion to Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
The Falcons depart for Vancouver on Friday, Aug. 31, and will play two games each on Saturday, Sept. 1 and Sunday, Sept. 2. The trip concludes with a single game on Monday, Sept. 3 with the team returning to Colorado Springs that evening.
"This trip will be a nice team-building experience for our players and coaches," said Air Force's first-year head coach Jeff Reynolds.
The NCAA allows schools to take a foreign trip once every four years. In addition to the games, the team is permitted by NCAA rules to practice for 10 days prior to the trip. The Falcons played six games in Denmark and Sweden prior to the 2003-04 season.
Senior captain Tim Anderson leads the Falcons' 15-player roster. After losing six seniors from last year's squad, Reynolds hopes that this trip will not only build confidence, but familiarity among the team.
"It will be a great opportunity for a young and inexperienced team to gain valuable game experience," said Reynolds.
