The Falcons are still tied for second place in the conference standings with UNLV. BYU defeated New Mexico, 77-71, in Albuquerque on Wednesday to snap UNM's 21-game home win streak. The Cougars are 13-6 overall and 5-3 in the MWC.
CoachesAir Force is coached by Jeff Bzdelik (Illinois-Chicago, 1976), who is in his first season as head coach. Bzdelik returns to the college game after 15 seasons as a coach and scout in the NBA, most recently as head coach of the Denver Nuggets. Bzdelik has a collegiate career record of 43-34. BYU is coached by Dave Rose, who is in his first season at the school and as a collegiate head coach.
SeriesBYU leads the series, 42-12. Air Force defeated the Cougars, 75-59, earlier this season at Clune Arena. The Falcons have won three straight against BYU, including both games last season, 52-49 in Provo, and 70-39 at home. The win in Provo was the first since Jan. 24, 1989.
