Falcons Host Nationally-Ranked San Diego State on Saturday
 The Air Force men’s basketball team will play its fourth ranked opponent of the season this Saturday, Feb. 2 against the #22/20 San Diego State Aztecs at Clune Arena. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.. Air Force improved to 13-6 and 4-2 in the Mountain West after defeating Fresno State 62-50 Wednesday at Clune. San Diego State is 16-4 and 4-2 in league play following a 55-34 win over New Mexico at home last Saturday. Both teams are in a four-way tie for second place in the Mountain West.

4-2 Ties Fourth-Best Start Ever in League Play
 Air Force’s 4-2 record in the Mountain West ties the fourth-best start ever in program history after six league games. The Falcons have been 5-1 three times in the past (2003-04, ‘04-05 and ‘06-07) and this is the second time at 4-2, the other time being the 2005-06 campaign.

Three Straight Conference Wins a Rarity Lately
 With its 62-50 victory over Fresno State Wednesday night, Air Force has won three consecutive conference games for the first time since the 2006-07 season.

Air Force Still With Only Two Wins Against Ranked Teams
 With its 76-71 overtime loss at #24/19 UNLV on Jan. 12, Air Force fell to 2-78 against ranked opponents in program history. It was the third ranked team Air Force lost to this season, including a 78-61 loss to #14/11 Florida on Dec. 29 and an 89-74 decision at 23rd-ranked Colorado on Nov. 25. The two victories in program history came against No. 21 UTEP (75-72) on Feb. 15, 1992 and No. 13 San Diego State (58-56) on Feb. 18, 2012. 

All Six Losses to Winning Teams
 The six teams that have defeated Air Force this season have a combined 97-28 record (.776 winning percentage). Wichita State is 19-3, Colorado is 14-6, Florida is 17-2, Richmond is 13-9 and UNLV and Colorado State are 17-4. Colorado, Florida, UNLV and Wichita State have been in the Top 25 this season.

Michael Lyons Moves Into No. 7 Spot on Career Scoring List
 Senior Michael Lyons moved into seventh place on Air Force’s career scoring list with 11 points against Wyoming last Saturday. He became the 23rd player in Air Force history to reach the 1,000-point plateau against Army in the season opener. Lyons, who entered the season with 997 career points, sank a three-pointer 2:16 into the game to join the prestigious club. The last Falcon to join the 1,000-point club was Matt McCraw in 2007. Lyons has 1,339 career points.
First Wire-to-Wire League Win in Over Two Years 
 Air Force led wire-to-wire in its 57-48 victory at Wyoming last Saturday, the first wire-to-wire conference win since defeating the Cowboys, 72-51, at Clune Arena on Jan. 22, 2011. It was also AFA’s first wire-to-wire conference road win since joining the Mountain West in 1999. 

70 Points Seems to be the Key
 Air Force is 9-2 this season when it scores 70 points or more and 4-4 when scoring less than 70. Defensively speaking, the Falcons are a perfect 11-0 when allowing 70 points or less and 2-6 when allowing more than 70. The two victories were an 86-72 triumph over Montana State and the 91-80 win over Boise State on Jan. 19.

Most Assists in One Game Since 1997
 Air Force had 27 assists in its victory over New Orleans on Jan. 23, the most in one game since a school-record 36 against Doane on Nov. 22, 1997. Tre’ Coggins dished out a career-high eight and 11 Falcons had at least one. The Falcons also posted 26 assists agaisnt Western State  and 25 against Montana State. 
Todd Fletcher in Sixth Place on Career Assist List
 Senior Todd Fletcher moved into sixth place on AFA’s career assist list against Jackson State on Nov. 28. Fletcher, who is third in the Mountain West with 3.9 assists per game, dished out a season-high eight against Western State and at UNLV and has 323 for his career. 

Still a Solid Record at Clune
 Including their 9-1 record this season, the Falcons have been hard to beat at Clune Arena the last nine-plus seasons. Since the beginning of the 2003-04 season, Air Force has won 114 of its 151 home games, good for a .755 winning percentage. In addition, the Falcons have won 44 of their 74 Mountain West games at Clune during that same stretch (.595 pct).

Another Big Jump in the RPI 
 After producing the largest jump in the country last week in the NCAA RPI rankings (43 spots), the Falcons leaped another 25 spots this week and are ranked No. 71 in the latest rankings, released on Monday, Jan. 28. The Mountain West has seven teams in the top 71 of the NCAA RPI.

Most Points Ever in Mountain West Game
 Air Force’s 91 points vs. Boise State on Jan. 19 were the most scored by an Air Force team in a Mountain West game, surpassing the previous high of 88 against Wyoming on Feb. 3, 2007. It was also the third-most ever in any conference game and the most since scoring 92 against Hawaii on Jan. 18, 1996.

Mike Fitzgerald No. 6 on AFA’s Career 3-Pt Percentage List
 Senior Mike Fitzgerald attempted his 150th career 3-pointer last season against Johnson & Wales, making him eligible for Air Force’s career list for three-point percentage. Fitzgerald is shooting 39.8 percent (102-for-256) for his career, placing him sixth on the list.

Todd Fletcher Eighth in Nation in Assist-Turnover Ratio
 Senior point guard Todd Fletcher leads the Mountain West and is ranked No. 8 in the nation in assist-turnover ratio at 3.08. Fletcher has 74 assists and 24 turnovers in 19 games this season.

Unbelievable Free-Throw Shooting Lately
 Air Force is by far the best free-throw shooting team in the Mountain West in conference games only. After shooting just 65.8 percent from the line in the 12 games prior to starting conference play, the Falcons are shooting 82.7 percent (91-110) from the stripe in its six league games. Boise State is No. 2 in the MW for conference games only at 76.5 percent.

First Time Giving up 50 or Less in Three Straight Since ‘08
Air Force has allowed 50 points or less in three consecutive games, the first time that has happened since a four-game stretch midway through the 2008-09 season.
