    Falcons Open Mountain West Slate vs. Newcomer Nevada
     The Air Force men's basketball team opens the 2012-13 Mountain West schedule on Wednesday, Jan. 9 against conference newcomer Nevada at Clune Arena. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. Air Force is 8-4 this season after dropping a 91-68 decision at Richmond last Wednesday, while the Wolf Pack are 9-5 after losing 56-43 to Oregon on the road last Wednesday.

    Conference Openers
     The Falcons are 8-24 all-time in conference openers. They were 2-17 in conference openers in their 19 years in the Western Athletic Conference, with the two victories coming against San Diego State (86-75) in 1986-87 and Colorado State (69-58) in 1992-93. Air Force is 6-7 in conference openers since the Mountain West began play in 1999. The Falcons defeated Boise State, 74-59, in Boise in last season's MW opener.

    Michael Lyons Moves Into Top 10 on Career Scoring List
     Senior Michael Lyons moved into ninth place on Air Force's career scoring list with 19 points against Richmond last Wednesday. He became the 23rd player in Air Force history to reach the 1,000-point plateau against Army in the season opener. Lyons, who entered the season with 997 career points, sank a three-pointer 2:16 into the game to join the prestigious club. The last Falcon to join the 1,000-point club was Matt McCraw in 2007. Lyons has 1,232 career points.
     
    All Four Losses to Winning Teams
     The four teams that have defeated Air Force this season have a combined 42-11 record (.792 winning percentage). Wichita State is 13-1, Colorado is 10-3, Florida is 9-2 and Richmond is 10-5. Colorado and Florida were ranked at the time Air Force played them and Wichita State entered the Top 25 the week after defeating the Falcons.

    Todd Fletcher in Sixth Place on Career Assist List
     Senior Todd Fletcher moved into sixth place on AFA's career assist list against Jackson State on Nov. 28. Fletcher, who is ranked third in the Mountain West with 4.08 assists per game, dished out a season-high eight against Western State on Nov. 15 and has 298 for his career.

    Lyons No. 2 in the Mountain West in Scoring
     Michael Lyons is second in the Mountain West in scoring at 19.6 points per game. Lyons, who scored a career-high 33 against Citadel on Nov. 11, has hit double figures in all 12 games this season. He is sixth in the conference in 3-pointers made per game (2.25) and 3-point percentage (36.5%) and seventh in field-goal percentage at 45.9 percent (78-of-170).

    Todd Fletcher Seventh in Nation in Assist-Turnover Ratio
     Senior point guard Todd Fletcher is ranked No. 7 in the nation in assist-turnover ratio at 4.08. Fletcher, who led the nation in that category the last three weeks, has 49 assists and 12 turnovers in 12 games this season. In addition, senior Michael Lyons is 26th nationally in scoring at 19.6 points per game.
