Air Force defeated Colorado State, 81-75, Wednesday night in Fort Collins. UNLV defeated Utah, 97-94 in double overtime, Wednesday night in Las Vegas. It was the MWC opener for each team.
Coaches
Air Force is coached by Jeff Bzdelik (Illinois-Chicago, 1976), who is in his second season as head coach. Bzdelik returned to the college game last year after 15 seasons as a coach and scout in the NBA, most recently as head coach of the Denver Nuggets. Bzdelik has a collegiate career record of 63-39, including a 38-8 mark at Air Force. Bzdelik was the head coach at UMBC for two years from 1986-88.
UNLV is coached by Lon Kruger (Kansas State, 1975), who is in his third season with the Rebels. He is 48-29 at the school and has a 166-262 career record in 20+ seasons.
Series
UNLV leads the all-time series, 17-6. Air Force swept the Rebels for the first time ever last season, winning 52-50 in Las Vegas and 68-55 at Clune Arena. AFA has won four of the last five vs. UNLV.
