Daniel Amigo scored 33 points, including 27 in the second half, to lead Denver past Air Force, 77-65, Saturday afternoon in a non-conference game in Clune Arena.
Amigo scored 17 of 23 points for the Pioneers to open the second half as Denver overcame a 35-31 halftime deficit to take a 54-53 lead with 7:45 to play. Amigo hit again to give Denver the lead for good, 59-57, with 5:31 remaining. The basket started a 13-0 run as Denver took a 70-57 lead with 1:50 to play. The Falcons were never able to get the lead under double digits the rest of the way.
Amigo hit 14 of 18 field goals and grabbed 10 rebounds in 29 minutes to lead Denver. Thomas Neff added 12 points and Joe Rosga 10. The Pioneers shot 56.9 percent from the field, including a 63.0 clip in the second half when they out-scored Air Force 46-30.
Air Force was led by Hayden Graham, who scored 16 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Jacob Van added 14 points and Zach Kocur 13. The Falcons hit just 40.4 percent from the field and 64 percent from the line while losing at home for the first time this season.
Air Force falls to 6-5 overall and 6-1 at home. Denver improves to 4-5 overall.
