Justin James scored 18 points the lead three players in double figures as Wyoming defeated Air Force, 66-54, Wednesday night in a Mountain West men’s basketball game in the Arena-Auditorium in Laramie, Wyo., on senior night.
The Cowboys used an 8-0 run midway through the second half to take 54-45 lead with 8:52 remaining. The Falcons scored six straight points to cut the lead to three, 54-51, with 5:52 left before the Cowboys closed the game with a 12-3 run to win it.
Hayden Dalton and Louis Adams added 12 points and eight rebounds each for the Cowboys. Wyoming shot 43.4 percent from the field, but hit 40 percent from three on 10-of-25 shooting and forced 19 Air Force turnovers.
Ryan Swan led the Falcons with 13 points and seven rebounds, including scoring the team’s first 10 points. Caleb Morris added the first double-double of his career with 11 points and a career-high 11 rebounds. His 11 boards are the most by a Falcon this season. Lavelle Scottie added 11 points and seven rebounds while Trevor Lyons chipped in with 10 points and a team-best four assists.
Air Force shot 39 percent from the field, including just 25 percent from three on five of 20 shooting. The Falcons out-rebounded Wyoming, 39-31, and had six steals and 12 assists. The Falcons were out-scored, 23-13, on points off turnovers.
Air Force falls to 11-18 overall and 5-12 in the Mountain West. Wyoming improves to 19-11 and 10-7. The Falcons close the regular season on Saturday vs. San Jose State in Clune Arena at 2 p.m. on Senior Day.
