Tyler Johnson scored 20 points and Cezar Guerrero added 18 as Fresno State defeated Air Force, 68-51, Wednesday night in a Mountain West game in Clune Arena.
The Falcons, who trailed 29-19 at halftime, used a 9-1 run midway through the second half to cut the lead to four points, 47-43, with 7:13 remaining. Four different players scored in the run which was capped by a Marek Olesinski 3-pointer. Johnson hit a three-pointer on the ensuing possession to begin a 10-0 run to push the lead to 57-43 with 4:50 remaining. The Bulldogs hit seven of 10 free throws in the final 90 seconds to seal the win.
Fresno State hit 43.1 percent from the field and out-rebounded Air Force, 36-32, while committing just 11 turnovers. Air Force struggled shooting the ball the entire night and shot just 38.3 percent from the field, including a 36.0 mark from 3-point territory. The Falcons also hit just six-of-11 free throws and had 20 turnovers.
Olesinski was the only Falcon in double figures, scoring 17 points and grabbing eight rebounds while playing all 40 minutes. Justin Hammonds added eight points and seven rebounds while DeLovell Earls and Hayden Graham chipped in with eight points each off the bench.
Fresno State improves to 10-13 overall and 3-7 in the conference. Air Force falls to 9-12 and 3-7.
