White Team Completes Three-Game Sweep To Conclude Blue-White Series

    USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - The White team completed a three-game sweep over the Blue team with an 8-7 victory to wrap up the 2010 Air Force baseball Blue-White Series Tuesday, Oct. 19, at Falcon Field. Sophomores Garrett Custons and Matthew Roberts homered in the game.

    Sophomore right-hander Alex Baker earned the win. Freshman right-hander Cameron White took the loss for the Blue, allow ing a run in 2.2 innings pitched.

    Senior left-hander Brad Pingel started for the Blue team and pitched 3.2 innings, allowing three runs. Sophomore right-hander Luke Dorlac started for the White team and pitched three innings, allowing three runs.

    Freshman right-hander Kyle Van Alstine gave the White team some clutch relief pitching, coming into the game in the sixth and working his way out of a jam. Van Alstine pitched 1.1 shutout innings.

    Roberts led the Blue team offensively, collecting three hits and two RBIs. His home run came in the eighth innings, pulling the Blue team to within one run. Senior first baseman Parker Mayo and freshman outfielder Jake Schomaker also had two hits for the Blue squad and freshman designated hitter Ryan Kramer added two RBIs.

    Custons led the White team with three hits and two RBis. He put the White team ahead in the fourth with a two-run homer. Sophomores Alex Bast and Matt Thorne also had three hits for the White and freshman Jordan Moore added two hits for the White.
