USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - The Air Force baseball Blue-White series is evened up now as the White team defeated the Blue team 5-2 on Saturday afternoon at Falcon Field. Game three Sunday will decide the winner of the series.
Freshman Tyler Saleck's two-run base hit in the fourth inning rallied the White team from a 2-1 deficit. Senior right-hander Evan Abrecht out-dueled junior right-hander Sean Carley on the mound for the win.
Casey Gibson gave the Blue Team a 2 -1 lead in the top of the fourth. Gibson reached on a fielders choice and eventually scored on another throwing error.
The White team took the lead for good in the bottom of the fourth. Thorne led off the inning with a walk. Both Thorne and Noah Pierce were then safe on a fielders choice play. Shaun Lovett then moved the runners up with a sacrifice bunt. Saleck followed by droving them both in with a single to left center.
The White team put the game out of reach in the fifth with two more runs off a home run by Alex Bast. After Adam Hill led off the inning with a single, Bast launched a two-run shot over the left field fence.
Jack Hourin and Kyle Van Alstine pitched in relief for the Blue team. Matt Zettler of the White team pitched three innings of scoreless baseball and Ben Yokley picked up the save for the White Team.
