Air Force Announces Incoming Baseball Class of 2016

USAF ACADEMY, Colo.- Air Force baseball head coach Mike Kazlausky announced today the 12 members that will make up the Falcons’ class of 2016. The 12 cadets arrived for Basic Cadet Training on Thursday, June 28, marking the beginning of the four-year journey to become officers in the United States Air Force. The new cadets will start academic classes on Thursday, Aug. 9 and later join the returning members of the baseball team for fall practices.
“I am tremendously excited for our new cadets and baseball players who have decided to accept the challenge and dare to be different at the greatest school in the country-our United States Air Force Academy,” Kazlausky said. “Our institution provides one of the most challenging environments across our nation and our new players are up to the challenge. Our institution represents the best of the best and these men have made the choice to be just that. I am thrilled what they bring to the Academy in regards to their baseball skills and the ability to fill the needs in our program. More importantly, I am excited in regards to their character and their willingness to become the greatest men possible.”
The Falcon rookie class features players representing seven states, including three from Georgia and two each from California, Illinois and Washington. The Falcons also boast eight players that earned all-state honors during their high school careers.

HIGH SCHOOL (Arlington Christian): Lettered four years in baseball and one year in football...2012 GISA AAA All-State, GISA All-Region 2AAA...batted .507 with six homers and 25 RBIs as a senior...team offensive MVP...2012 Rawlings Southeast region honorable mention...2011 and 2010 Perfect Game underclass honorable mention...batted .422 with 19 homers and 93 RBIs for his career...National Honors Society, Magna Cum Laude, Bible Scholar Award, AP Government and Politics Award, Beta Club, Ambassadors Club...high school baseball coach was David White...played summer ball for the East Cobb Yankees, coached by James Beavers.
Notable: Has two seasons of eligibility after playing two seasons at Columbia Basin Community College...will be a freshman academically at the Academy.
2012 (Columbia Basin C.C.): Batted .360...struck out 29 in 29 innings pitched with 5.83 ERA...East Region Champions....NWAACC All-Academic, Academic Leadership, Top Male Scholar Athlete, President’s list (3.8 or above GPA).
2011 (Columbia Basin C.C.): Batted .233...struck out 28 in 24 IP and posted 2.31 ERA...East Region Champions.
HIGH SCHOOL (Richland): Lettered two years in baseball...second-team all-state outfielder and first-team all-conference as a senior...team captain...batted .406 as a junior and .384 as a senior...second-team all-conference as a junior...led Richland to State 4A Championship as a junior and runner-up finish as a senior...high school baseball coach was Ben Jacobs...played summer ball for the Twin City Titans, coached by Steve Farrington.
