USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Recently graduated senior Adam Groesbeck was selected by the Atlanta Braves in the 2017 Major League Baseball Amateur draft. Groesbeck, an outfielder, was selected by the Braves in the 38th round.
Groesbeck, an outfielder, led Air Force with a .410 batting average and 91 hits. The senior from Turlock, Calif., set a school record with a .458 batting average and 60 hits in conference play. Groesbeck was one of the top table-setters in the conference, scoring 60 runs out of the leadoff spot, adding eight home runs and 42 RBIs.
The outfielder earned 2017 All-America honors from Collegiate Baseball News and College Sports Madness. He was also a First-Team ABCA All-Midwest Region and First-Team All-Mountain West selection in 2017.
Groesbeck is the third Falcon to be drafted from the 2017 class at Air Force. Pitchers Griffin Jax and Jacob DeVries were selected in the 2016 MLB draft. Jax went in the third round to the Minnesota Twins and DeVries was selected by the Cleveland Indians in the 38th round.
