Russell Williams of Air Force baseball was named to the 2017 CoSIDA Div. I Baseball Academic All-America Team, in recognition of the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. Williams earned first-team designation, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Williams, a senior outfielder for Falcon baseball, earned his second All-America honors, as he garnered third team honors last season. The McKinney, Texas, native recently graduated with a 3.80 grade-point average as an economics major.
The senior started 45 of 47 games played for Air Force, primarily in right field, batting .362 with eight home runs and 41 RBIs. Williams batted .377 in conference play, with 26 RBIs in 28 games.
Williams is also a three-time Academic All-District, All-Mountain West and two-time MW Scholar Athlete honoree. The senior was the Academy’s Cadet Vice Wing Commander, the second-highest ranking cadet, during the fall semester of the 2016-17 school year.
