LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Air Force baseball landed two players on the 2014 All-Mountain West Baseball Team, announced today by the conference office. Senior right-hand pitcher Cameron White and freshman outfielder Tyler Jones earned second-team all-conference honors.
White, who starts today Air Force's conference championship opener against San Jose State, currently leads the MW with 94 strikeouts and is fourth with 98.2 innings pitched. The Colleyville, Texas, native currently has a 3.92 ERA, which is the lowest at Air Force since 1983. White currently ranks fourth all-time at Air Force in career innings pitched (324.1) and strikeouts (256).
Jones is capping off a standout rookie season, leading the Falcons with a .344 batting average. The freshman from Coppell, Texas, ranks amongst the Mountain West Top 10 in nine offensive categories including, average, slugging (.526), hits (66), doubles (19) and hit by pitches (11). Jones is first all-time amongst Air Force freshmen in hit by pitches, second in doubles and third in hits.
Air Force baseball opens Mountain West Championship play against San Jose State today at 11 a.m. PST. Live video and stats will be available for all games at the championships.
