    Air Force Travels To 2013 MW Championships
    Air Force baseball will participate in the 2013 Mountain West Baseball Championship, May 22-26, hosted by Fresno State in Fresno, Calif. The #6-seeded Falcons open the tournament against #3-seed San Diego State on Wednesday. Live webcast and stats will be available for every game of the tournament.

    First Series vs. San Diego State
    The Falcons went 1-2 vs. San Diego State in its first meeting April 12-14 at the Academy. The Aztecs won game one 4-2 and the Falcons won game two 10-9. SDSU won game three 11-0.
    - The Falcons batted .250, had a 6.33 ERA and fielded .932 in the series.
    - OF David Baska and OF David Thomas both batted .375 over the weekend to lead the Falcons.
    - Baska, Tyler Saleck and Brian Sicher (first-career) hit homers for the Falcons.
    - RHP Cameron White pitched his sixth eight-plus outing of the season.
    - RHP Bo Wilson earned his first-career win.

    Second Series vs. San Diego State
    The Falcons went 1-2 at San Diego State May 10-12. The Falcons won game one 4-2, snapping a 28-game losing streak at SDSU dating back to the 2002 season. The Aztecs won game two 7-2 and game three 9-2.
    - The Falcons batted . 172 in the series, posting a 6.48 ERA and fielding .982.
    - Spencer Draws led the Falcons at the plate, batting .273 (3-for-11) with a pair of doubles and three RBIs.
    - Cameron White tossed a complete game, five-hitter, to go with seven strikeouts in win Friday.

    Custons one of 15 Bench Award Semifinalists
    Air Force senior catcher Garrett Custons is one of 15 semifinalists for the 2013 Johnny Bench Award presented by BaseballSavings.com, announced today by the Greater Wichita Area Sports Commission.

    Custons is a two-time All-Mountain West Catcher, who currently leads the Falcons in batting, hitting .361 with 22 doubles and 47 runs scored. The Sarasota, Fla., native leads the conference with seven runners picked off and is third with 18 steal attempts thrown out. Custons is Air Force's all-time leader with 77 doubles and 817 career at bats.

    Home/Road Splits
    Air Force has played 36 road/neutral games to just 16 home games so far in 2013. The Falcons are hitting .083 points higher and fielding .009 percent better at home.

    Air Force is 12-12 in home and neutral site games. Conversely, the Falcons are just 3-25 in true road games.

    Custons Sets Doubles Record
    Senior C/OF Garrett Custons set the school record for doubles on May 5 at New Mexico. Custons currently has 77 career doubles, surpassing the previous record of 74, held by Mike Thiessen. Thiessen is currently co-offensive coordinator of the Air Force football team.

    Custons & White Amongst NCAA Top 10
    Senior C/OF Garrett Custons and junior RHP Cameron White rank in the NCAA Top 10 in a couple categories. Custons, who ranks second in the Mountain West with 22 doubles, ranks 10th in the nation in doubles. White ranks fifth in the nation with 0.72 walks per nine innings. White is sixth in the nation with a 8.50 strikeout-to-walk ratio.

    White Surpasses 100 Innings
    Junior RHP Cameron White leads the Mountain West with 100.1 innings pitched on the season. White is just the fourth pitcher in school history to surpass the 100 innings pitched mark. White has pitched at least six innings in every start and surpassed eight innings in seven starts.

    Kline Bats .387 In Conference Play
    Junior first baseman Seth Kline led the Falcons and ranked fourth overall with a .387 batting average in Mountain West games. The .387 average is fourth-highest in MW history at Air Force. His 41 hits is third all-time. His 12 doubles ties a school record in MW play.

    Pitching Milestones
    The Air Force pitching staff has been significantly improved in the last three seasons. The Falcons are reaching several milestones for far this season, and in the past three.

    - 2.84 Walks allowed per game, which is currently the lowest mark in program history.
    - Four straight 300 strikeouts seasons, the first time in school history.
    - 337 K's is fourth all-time.
    - 7.69 ERA in Mountain West play is currently the second-lowest ever.

    Wear It
    Air Force is second in the MW for hit by pitches with 62 beanings so far this season. David Baska leads the conference with 18 HBPs and Garrett Custons ranks second with 16. Baska's total ranks third in school history and Custons is fourth.

    Strong Starting Pitching
    Air Force is getting steady production out of its starting pitching so far in 2013. The Falcon starters have logged at least five innings in 38 of 52 games this season. The starters have allowed three-or-fewer earned runs in 21 games.

    Bertelson Most K's since 2002
    Senior LHP Ben Bertelson leads the team and ranks third in the conference iwth 80 strikeouts. He currently ranks seventh in a season at AFA. He has the most strikeouts in a season since Erik Fisher's 88 in 2002.

    Bullpen Improved
    The Falcon bullpen has proven to be solid for the Falcons also this season. The bullpen has an ERA of 6.69. Last year, the bullpen ERA was 7.47.

    Custons Enters Falcon Record Books
    Senior catcher/outfielder Garrett Custons is putting the finishing touches on one of the best careers in Academy history. Custons is currently in the Air Force Top 10 list in nine categories.

    Baska Plays Football & Baseball for Falcons
    Junior RHP/IF/OF David Baska spent this past fall with the Air Force football team as the punter. Baska averaged 39.2 yards per punt for the Falcon football team, which went 6-7 on the season. Baska is Air Force's first football/baseball player since Jason Brown (WR-RHP/1B) in 2003-04. Junior Seth Kline also played for the football team as a middle linebacker in 2010, but did not appear in any games.
