LAWRENCE, Kan. - Air Force baseball placed three players on the Kansas Jayhawk Classic All-Tournament Team. Pitcher Ben Bertelson, outfielder Alex Bast and catcher Brian Sicher were named all-tourney.
Bertelson, a junior left-hander tossed a complete-game shutout Saturday against Kansas, leading Air Force to an 3-0 win. The Midland, Texas, native struck out eight and scattered eight hits in Air Force first win over a Big 12 Conference school since 2001.
Bast, a junior outfielder, batted .500 (7-for-14) with two home runs and five runs scored. The Pensacola, Fla., native homered against Kansas Friday and Missouri State on Saturday.
Sicher, a freshman catcher also batted .500 (3-for-6) on the weekend, with all three hits being doubles. The Orland Park, Ill., native had a .571 on-base percentage and also threw out a baserunner attempting to steal.
Air Force baseball returns to action Friday, May 11, hosting TCU to begin a three-game conference series.
