Air Force Falls To Northern Colorado, 20-4
GREELEY, Colo. - Northern Colorado scored in every inning but the second, as the Bears strolled to a 20-4 win over Air Force Tuesday afternoon in a non-conference baseball game at Jackson Field. The Falcons fall to 15-27 on the season and the Bears improve to 12-19.
UNC starter Roy Allen (2-2) picked up the win, pitching five scoreless innings and holding the Falcons to just two hits while striking out seven. Air Force starer Josh Meents (0-4) took the loss, allowing one unearned run on two walks in two innings pitched. The Falcons used seven pitchers in the game. The Bears went up 1-0 in the first inning and chipped away with three runs in the third and two in the fourth and fifth to go ahead 8-0. After the Falcons responded with a run in the sixth, UNC scored six in the bottom of the inning and added one more in the seventh to make it a 14-1 game. In the top of the eighth, Karl Bolt made it a 15-4 game with a three-run homer, his sixth long-ball of the season. UNC responded with five runs in the bottom of the inning. The Bears had 14 hits in the game and capitalized on five Falcon errors. Brennan Garr and Zach Harris did a lot of the damage for UNC. Garr went 3-for-6 four runs scored and a home run. Harris went 2-for-4 with a homer, three runs and five RBI. Air Force had six hits in the game. Price Paramore was 2-for-4. Air Force returns to action this Friday, May 5, playing host to San Diego State at Falcon Field beginning at 2 p.m.
