Air Force Falls To Northern Colorado, 15-5


    USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Zack Brockman went 5-for-5 with two homers and five RBI to lead Northern Colorado to a 15-5 win over Air Force Tuesday afternoon in a non-conference baseball game at Falcon Field. The Falcons fall to 10-20 on the season and the Bears improve to 12-19.
    Northern Colorado starter Evan Linn (1-0), making his first start of the season, picked up his first win of the year. The left-hander went five innings, allowing three runs on eight hits, while striking out three. Air Force starter Kyle Yamamoto (0-1), who also made his first start of the year, allowed six runs in six innings, while striking out a career-high six batters.
    The game was a see-saw battle for most of the game until UNC blew a 6-5 game wide open by scoring nine unanswered runs in the final three innings. The Bears had 15 hits in the game and three home runs. John Ray hit the other home run for UNC.
    Air Force had 11 base hits in the game, led by Jon Polston, who was 3-for-4 with a double and three runs scored. Chay Derbigny, Price Paramore and Matt Ghigna also had two hits apiece.
    Northern Colorado jumped ahead 3-0 after scoring a run in the second and two more in the third. Air Force rallied with two runs in the third to make it 3-2.
    The two team would both score a run in the fourth and two in the sixth to make it a 5-4 game. Then the Bears scored a run in the seventh, two more in the eighth and exploded for six runs in the ninth.
    Air Force returns to action this Thursday in a doubleheader at New Mexico, beginning at 2 p.m. at Isotopes Park in Albuquerque, N.M.
