Air Force Dropped By TCU


    FORT WORTH, Texas - TCU racked up 19 base hits to thump Air Force, 16-1, in a Mountain West Conference baseball game Friday night at Lupton Stadium. The loss drops the Falcons to 10-17 overall and 1-4 in MWC play, the Horned Frongs improve to 17-15, 4-1.

    TCU starter Jake Arrieta (7-2) held Air Force to one hit in five innings pitched, striking out seven, to pick up his seventh win on the year. Falcon starter Mitch Brown (3-6) took the loss, allowing nine runs in 1.2 innings pitched. Taylor Cragin picked up the save, striking out six in four innings of relief.

    The Frogs scored in each of the first five innings to build up to a 16-0 lead. TCU scored three in the first and six in the second and four in the fifth.

    Air Force's first hit came in the fourth inning, when Geno Salzar singled. The Falcons got on the scoreboard in the eighth inning as Jon Polston hit his second home run of the year, making it a 16-1 game. Matt Musser had the third base hit for Air Force, with a double in the eighth inning.

    The Falcons also struggled defensively, committing a season-high four errors.

    TCU had seven players with two RBI and two hits, led by Bryan Kervin, who went 3-for-5 with two runs and two RBI.

    Game two of the three-game series begins at 2 p.m. tomorrow back at Lupton Stadium.
