USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Freshman right-hander Griffin Jax of Air Force baseball earned Mountain West Pitcher of the Week honors for games played during the week of March 24-30, announced today by the conference office. Jax led Air Force to a 5-0 win over New Mexico on Saturday, March 29.

Jax tossed a complete game, four-hit shutout against the Lobos. The Greenwood Village, Colo., native allowed just four singles and struck out six in nine innings pitched. He is the first Air Force freshman to toss a shutout in the Mountain West era and the first since 1999. The four hits were also the fewest by New Mexico in 79 games.

Jax is the first Falcon to earn Mountain West Pitcher/Player of the Week honors this season. He is the first Falcon freshman to earn MW Pitcher of the Week since Brad Pingel in 2008.

Jax shared weekly honors with San Diego State outfielder Seby Zavala, who was named MW Player of the Week.
