Freshman Griffin Jax earned Air Force Athletics co-Athlete of the Week honors for competition during the week of March 24-30. Jax led Air Force baseball to a 5-0 win over New Mexico on Saturday, March 29.
Jax tossed a complete game, four-hit shutout against the Lobos. The Greenwood Village, Colo., native allowed just four singles and struck out six in nine innings pitched. He is the first Air Force freshman to toss a shutout in the Mountain West era and the first since 1999. The four hits were also the fewest by New Mexico in 79 games.
It is Jax's second AFA AOW honors, as he earned the recognition on Feb. 24 as well. Jax shared the honors with Mike Crampton of the Lacrosse team.
