ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Air Force baseball dropped a 11-5 ballgame at New Mexico Saturday at Isotopes Park. The Falcons conclude the 2012 season with a 14-39 overall record and 5-19 mark in Mountain West play. The Lobos improved to 33-22, 18-6.
The Falcons let a 5-4 lead slip away late, as UNM rallied with seven unanswered runs, scoring three in the seventh and four in the eighth.
Senior Evan Abrecht (4-5) took the loss in his final start as a Falcon, tossing seven innings. Mike Kazakoff and Alex Baker pitched in relief for the Falcons. Kazakoff tied the school record with his 33rd appearance of the season.
New Mexico reliever Bobby Mares (1-1) picked up win. Lobos starting pitcher Gera Sanchez pitched four innings, allowing three runs while striking out three.
Air Force had a series-best 14 hits. Senior second baseman Blair Roberts capped-off his career with three hits, two RBIs and three stolen bases. Sophomore David Baska, who entered the game with one hit on the season, went 4-for-5 with a double, triple and three runs scored and one RBI. Seth Kline added two hits, including his team-leading fifth home run of the year.
New Mexico had 17 hits on the day. Josh Melendez went 3-for-5 with a triple and four RBIs to lead UNM.
The Falcons built a 5-4 lead after six innings. The Lobos then responded with the big innings late in the game.
