USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force baseball dropped a 17-2 ballgame to #24 TCU Saturday afternoon at Falcon Field. The loss dropped the Falcons to 13-35, 5-15 and improved the Horned Frogs to 31-16, 15-5.
TCU pounded out 21 hits and hit four home runs on the day. Leadoff hitter Brance Rivera led the Frogs at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two homers.
Air Force starting pitcher Ben Bertelson (1-9) lasted just 2.2 innings, striking out two. Todd Del Toro, Matt Zettler, Jack Hourin, Michael Ceci and Mike Kazkoff pitched in relief. Ceci pitched 3.1 innings of scoreless relief and Kazakoff threw a scoreless ninth.
TCU starting pitcher Andrew Mitchell (5-2) pitched five scoreless innings, striking out seven in the win.
The Horned Frogs scored runs in each of the first five innings to build up the 17-0 lead. TCU put up six runs in the fourth inning on the heels of back-to-back-to-back homers.
The Falcons scored its two runs on a double by Kramer in the eighth.
The series finale is tomorrow at 11 a.m. Prior to first pitch, Air Force will honor its six graduating seniors in their final home game.
