SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Air Force baseball fell 7-2 at San Diego State in front of a nationally-televised audience Saturday afternoon at Tony Gwynn Stadium. The Falcons dropped to 14-34, 6-20. San Diego State improved to 25-25, 14-12.
In a game televised on CBS Sports Network, a three-run fifth inning by the Aztecs broke open a 1-1 tie ballgame. San Diego State starting pitcher Ryan Doran (7-2) tossed a seven-hit complete game win.
San Diego State had 10 hits in the game. First baseman Ryan Muno went 3-for-4 with four RBIs. His two-run home run capped off SDSU's fifth inning.
Freshman third baseman Spencer Draws went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and an RBI to lead the Falcon offense. Freshman designated hitter Zach Reks added a double, junior centerfielder David Baska had an RBI and senior second baseman Matthew Roberts scored a run.
The Falcons got to within two runs of the Aztecs with a run in the sixth. San Diego State scored two in the seventh and one in the eighth to put the game out of reach.
The rubber match of the series is tomorrow at 1 p.m. PST.
