USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force baseball dropped a 12-8 ballgame to Nevada in Mountain West action Saturday at Falcon Field. The Falcons drop to 11-30, 4-16, while the Wolf Pack improved to 22-20, 9-11.
Nevada erased a 7-6 Falcon lead with a six-run eighth inning, capped by a three-run home run by rightfielder Brooks Klein.
Air Force had 11 hits in the game. David Baska, Seth Kline, Matt Thorne and Matthew Roberts had two hits each for the Falcons. Kline and Tyler Saleck added two RBIs. Garrett Custons scored two runs and was hit by two pitches.
Daniel Levine (2-0) picked up the win in relief. Tyler Wells pitched six innings, allowing five runs for the Wolf Pack.
Nevada had 14 hits in the game. Designated hitter Hugo Hernandez went 4-for-5 with five RBIs to lead Nevada. Klein added two hits and three RBIs.
In a see-saw battle, Nevada jumped ahead 4-0 early, with three runs in the first and one in the second. The Falcons rallied back to tie the game up with two runs in the third and fourth innings.
The Wolf Pack took a 6-4 lead with two runs in the top of the seventh. Air Force rallied right back with three runs in the bottom of the inning to go ahead 7-6. Nevada would then post the six run eighth. The Falcons scored one run in the ninth.
The series finale is tomorrow at 1 p.m.
