USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force baseball remains hot, downing #20 UNLV 14-4 in a Mountain West game Friday at Falcon Field. The Falcons have now won four in a row and seven of their last eight, improving to 13-25, 4-13. A seven run first inning allowed AFA to coast to the win.
The Falcon bats cranked out 16 hits with eight for extra bases. Sophomore right fielder Spencer Draws led the way, going 4-for-4 with three doubles, three runs and two runs. Senior Seth Kline went 3-for-4 with a homer, three runs and two RBIs.
UNLV had 15 hits, with six players getting two hits. Catcher Erik VanMeetren went 2-for-4 with a run and two RBIs. Rebel starting pitcher John Richy (6-3), from Golden, was tagged with the loss. Richy allowed 10 runs in six innings, striking out eight.
After the big first inning, the Falcons tacked on two runs with Kline's two-run homer to right, going up 9-0. UNLV scored a run in the fifth and three in the sixth to make it 9-4.
The Falcons scored a run in the sixth and two each in the seventh and eighth.
The three-game series finale is tomorrow. First pitch is 12 p.m.
