Air Force Drops 16-9 Ballgame to San Diego State On Saturday

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - The Air Force baseball team dropped a 16-9 ballgame to San Diego State, Saturday afternoon at Falcon Field. The loss dropped the Falcons to 7-23, 1-6, while the Aztecs improved to 14-18, 3-5. San Diego jumped out to an early 6-1 lead after three innings and used an eight-run fifth to hold off another late charge by Air Force. The Aztecs led 16-1 before Air Force scored eight unanswered runs, plating one in the seventh and seven in the eighth, to make it 16-9. Both team suffered from control problems on the mound, combining to issue 16 walks. Brandon Meredith let SDSU's 15-hit attack by going 5-for-6 with four runs scored. Chris Wilson added five RBIs. Air Force had 11 hits in the game. K.J. Randhawa went 3-for-5 with two RBIs, Nathan Carter added three runs scored and Garrett Custons hit a three-run homer to lead the Falcons. Aztec starting pitcher Bryan Crabb (3-3) pitched seven innings for the win. Crabb held the Falcons to two runs while striking out four. Air Force starting pitcher Kincaid Koehler (1-4) took the loss, allowing 10 runs in four innings of work. Jack Hourin, Ben Bertelson and Michael Ceci pitched in relief. Air Force and San Diego State play game three of the series tomorrow, April 11, at 12 p.m.
