    SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Air Force baseball dropped a 4-3 Mountain West game at San Diego State Sunday afternoon at Tony Gwynn Stadium. The Falcons dropped to 6-24, 2-13 and the Aztecs improved to 24-8, 10-5.

    The Falcons dropped a heartbreaker after rallying to take a lead in the eighth inning.

    San Diego State led 2-0 after plating a pair of runs in the second inning. After being held scoreless for seven innings, Air Force scored three runs off a base hit by designated hitter Seth Kline in the eighth inning, taking a 3-2 lead. The lead was short-lived as the Aztecs rallied back with two runs in the bottom-half of the inning.

    The loss spoiled a solid outing from starting pitcher Steven Trojan. Trojan worked seven innings, allowing just two runs on six hits, while striking out three. Reliever Ben Yokley (0-1) took the loss, getting two outs in the eighth. Nathan Stanford got the last out in the eighth for AFA.

    Michael Cederoth (2-0) got the win for San Diego State after blowing the save attempt in the eighth. Aztec starting pitcher Mark Seyler went seven innings, allowing one run off three hits while fanning nine.

    Kline, second baseman Noah Pierce, shortstop Russell Williams and catcher Travis Neubeck had Air Force's hits.

    San Diego State had eight hits in the game. Designated hitter Steven Pallares had two hits, two runs and RBI to lead the Aztecs.

     

     

    Air Force returns to action Tuesday, April 8, hosting New Mexico State. First pitch is 3 p.m. MST.
