Air Force Fails To Hold Lead In Tough Sunday Loss At TCU

FORT WORTH, Texas - TCU scored three runs in the ninth inning to rally to a 3-2 win over Air Force Sunday afternoon in Mountain West Conference baseball action at Lupton Stadium. The loss drops the Falcons to 10-19, 0-8 and improved the Horned Frogs to 19-12, 5-4.
With the bases loaded and nobody out in the ninth, Bryan Holaday singled through the right side bringing in the tying runs. Brett Medlin scored the winning run on an errant throw by right fielder Chay Derbigny.
The loss spoiled another stellar outing from Air Force starter Jake Petro. The San Antonio, Texas, native held the Frogs to no runs on three hits in 7.2 strong innings, while striking out five. Falcon reliever Michael Ruvolo (2-3) took the loss in one-third inning worked. Alex Truesdale faced the final batter in the game.
The Falcons got up 2-0 by pushing across a pair of runs in the fourth inning. Matt Alexander and Josh Meents drove in the runs. The Falcons were held to five hits on the day, with Alexander going 2-for-4. Air Force also drew four hit-by-pitches in the game.
TCU starter Greg Holle went 6.1 innings, allowing two runs off five hits. Frog releiver Andrew Cashner (5-1) picked up the win with 1.1 innings of scoreless relief. TCU also had just five hits on the day.
The Falcons return to action Tuesday, April 8, hosting Colorado Christian at 3 p.m. at Falcon Field.
