SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Air Force baseball dropped a 9-3 Mountain West game at San Diego State Saturday night at Tony Gwynn Stadium. The Falcons dropped to 6-23, 2-12 and the Aztecs improved to 23-8, 9-5.
San Diego State scored two runs in the first and never trailed in the game. After the Falcons scored a run in the third, the Aztecs responded with three runs in the bottom of the inning.
The Falcons scored two runs in the fourth and chased SDSU starting pitcher Mike RoBards from the game, making it a 5-3 ballgame. San Diego State would go on to add three runs in the seventh and one in the eighth.
The Falcons had nine hits in the game. First baseman Tyler Saleck, center fielder David Thomas and catcher Travis Neubeck had two hits each to lead the Falcons. Tyler Jones added a double, and Thomas had two RBIs.
San Diego State had 12 hits on the day. Catcher Brad Haynal went 2-for-3 with a homer and six RBIs. Haynal hit a three-run homer in the fourth inning.
Cody Thompson (4-1) picked up the win with 5.2 scoreless innings of relief. RoBards went 3.1 innings.
