Air Force Drops 5-1 Ballgame at San Diego State

    SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Air Force baseball dropped a 5-1 Mountain West game at San Diego State Friday night at Tony Gwynn Stadium. The Falcons dropped to 6-22, 2-11 and the Aztecs improved to 22-8, 8-5.

    San Diego State starting pitcher Bubba Derby (5-0) remained unbeaten on the season, tossing a complete game three-hitter. Derby struck out 16 in the win.

    The Aztecs scored three runs in the third inning and added runs in the fifth and sixth innings. The Falcons plated their run in the eighth on a RBI by third baseman Bradley Haslam that scored designated hitter Travis Neubeck.

    Neubeck also doubled to lead the Falcon offense. Second baseman Noah Pierce and center fielder David Thomas also had base hits for the Falcons.

    Starting pitcher Cameron White (1-6) pitched six innings, striking out five. Nathan Stanford pitched two scoreless innings in relief.

    San Diego State had 10 hits. Third baseman Ty France went 3-for-3 with a run and RBI and left fielder Seby Zavala hit a two-run homer in the third and had three RBIs on the night to lead the Aztecs.
