    USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - In a matchup between the two Div. I baseball programs in the state of Colorado, Air Force downed Northern Colorado 8-6 in non-conference action Tuesday afternoon at Falcon Field. The win lifted the Falcons to 6-21 on the season and dropped the Bears to 5-23.

    After jumping ahead 8-1, Air Force withstood a late Northern Colorado rally for the two-run win.

    The Falcons scored three runs in the first and two in the fourth to get ahead 5-0. After The Bears scored a run in the sixth, AFA responded with three runs in the bottom of the inning to take the seven run lead.

    Northern Colorado scored three runs in the eighth on a three-run home run by right fielder Ben Netzel to make it 8-4. The Bears scored two more runs in the ninth before reliever Nathan Stanford was able to strike out Netzel with a runner on to end the game.

    The Falcons had 11 hits in the game. Second baseman Noah Pierce went 2-for-4 with a triple and four RBIs. First baseman Seth Kline went 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and two RBIs. Left fielder Tyler Jones continued his recent hitting-tear, going 3-for-3 with a double and RBI. Shortstop Russell Williams went 3-for-4 with two runs as well.

    Bo Wilson (1-2) picked up the win for the Falcons with six innings pitched in the start. Wilson allowed just one run on six hits, striking out six. Ben Yokley, Trent Monaghan and Stanford closed out the game in relief. Stanford pitched the final two innings for AFA.

     

     

    Northern Colorado had 10 hits in the game. Center fielder Jensen Park went 3-for-4 with a triple, run and two RBIs.

    Bears starting pitcher Lucas Corrick (1-3) took the loss, allowing three runs in two innings pitched.

    The Falcons return to action at San Diego State this weekend, playing a three-game set, April 4-6.
